red ants

Introduction. Red ants are insects and they are invertebrates.


Appearance Red ants have 3 body parts, the head  thorax and abdomen.
They also have an antennae is on the head.


Diet Red ants eat plants like leaves.                                                                                                                               

Habitat. Red ants build their nests in the soil.
They usually like to live in open habitats like lawns and parks.


Lifecycle. Red ants lay eggs and it takes the egg about 7-10 days to hatch.
Then it will take 20-25 years to grow up to
cvcc h be a adult.
The queen ant lives up to 7 years but the worker ants live only for 5 weeks.
                                Interesting facts
Red ants is just another name for fire ant.
Red ants actually sting you or bite you and their sting really hurts.

Habitat. Bees live in hive’s and thats where they work.

What they do. Bees colect honey from flowers            
 And bring it back to the hive.

wetas

Introduction
Wetas are members of the insect family and endemic to New Zealand. They are also the heaviest insect.

Appearance
The weta has a head like a spider.
It’s legs are spiky and prickly. It looks like a cockroach and has a point on is rear end.

Habitat
Wetas sometimes live in logs and live in caves. They can live in forests and grasslands to. But some wetas
live in shrublands and They also may be found in the trees.                                                                          

Diet
Wetas eat different kinds of native plants. Some can eat flowers too. Some eat fruit and some can eat small

lifecycle
A weta comes from an egg. They lay their eggs in autumn and winter, and hatch in spring.
When they hatch they grow up to  be a adult. It takes one to two years to be an adult. They might live for
several years.


Threats
Wetas are dying from people destroying their habitat, and they are being eaten by native predators. Such as
cats, birds, bats stoats and more. So we need to save are wetas.


Conclusion
The weta is a very special insect and the Department of conservation. (Doc) has many programmers to help their conservation. That we are trying to save our wetas.
